Mirabell Palace and GardensAround 1606 Prince Archbishop Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau had a palace built outside the town walls for his mistress Salome Alt and their fifteen children. It was called "Altenau Palace" at first. After Wolf Dietrich's forced abdication, his successor Markus Sittikus chased wife and children away from Altenau Palace. He renamed it "Mirabell" Palace (mirabile = admirable, bella = beautiful).
